Vintage Beatles sheet music: "Flying"

dum, dum, dum, da dum...

"Words" and music from the Beatles' group-composed instrumental tune from "Magical Mystery Tour." I bet this one sold like hotcakes.

Candid pics from the Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour" come to light

A batch of newly rediscovered photos of the Beatles during the making of their "Magical Mystery Tour" TV special is highlighted in a Daily Mail article today. The candids were snapped by a traveling salesman who stayed in the same Cornwall as the Fabs and their entourage.

Artifact: Beatles Magical Mystery Tour Fancy Dress Party Invitation

Via Heritage Auctions:
As the Beatles typically celebrated Christmas with a party, John Lennon suggested that they have a costume ball for the launch of their Magical Mystery Tour movie, scheduled to be shown on BBC television on December 26, and invite friends, family, and the film crew. This is a rare and very desirable invitation for that party, apparently not used.

Artifact: John Lennon and George Harrison signed Magical Mystery Tour advance private screening invitation

Up for bid at Heritage Auctions.

John and George were the only two Beatles in attendance at this advance screening held on December 17, 1967 at a London theater, as Ringo was busy filming Candy in Italy, and Paul was taking an extended end-of-year holiday in Scotland. The invitation states that guests - primarily area secretaries for local chapters of the Beatles Fan Club - will be treated to a "colour" screening, notable as the public premiere on the BBC nine days later would be a black-and-white broadcast.

The lukewarm public reception to the television premiere is well known, and it has long been surmised that had MMT's psychedelic color palette been seen on the "telly", the reaction to the film may have been quite different. Regardless, this rare invitation is a wonderful memento!

Unseen Beatles Magical Mystery Tour pics up for auction - see them here

Beatles Examiner reports Frasers' Autographs is auctioning off a batch of unseen Beatles pics.

Details from Frasers':
BEATLES - MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR A set of approx. 125 original negatives on celluloid strips, taken from cinefilm shot by an unknown photographer / filmmaker given access to the set of the Beatles' filming of the 'Magical Mystery Tour' television movie in 1967. There is some old damage or loss to some of the negatives, but it appears to this cataloguer that images could quite comfortably be developed from most of the negatives. We have a set of three contact sheets that were developed from the strips in 1999 showing The Beatles working and relaxing on the set. Viewing highly recommended.
