Cedar climbed by Beatles on tree awards shortlist - BBC

A cedar tree climbed by The Beatles, an oak that may have inspired Virginia Woolf, and a King of Limbs near Marlborough are among ten nominees to be named Tree of the Year 2025.

...the Beatles' cedar tree in Chiswick, can be seen in the music video for their 1966 song Rain and the Tree of Peace and Unity in County Antrim, which played a role during the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.

The 31-year-old Londoner, who stars in the new Marvel movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps, will be portraying Beatles guitarist George Harrison alongside Paul Mescal, who will portray Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr and Harris Dickinson who will play John Lennon.

Ringo Starr Makes Rare Comment on His 37-Year Sobriety: 'Thank the Lord' - People

In an interview with reporters at Ringo Starr’s Annual “Peace & Love” Birthday Celebration in Beverly Hills, Calif., the former Beatles drummer opened up about how his life has shifted in the years since he stopped drinking alcohol.

"Well, I ended up in a rehab because I was not treating myself or anyone around me with any respect," Starr — who turned 85 on Monday, July 7 — says of his decision to get sober.

He added: "It was all about me, and I came out, and I haven't had a drink since. Thank the Lord."
