The Uttarakhand Finance Department has raised concerns over the state Tourism Department's decision to appoint HCP Design, Planning and Management Pvt Ltd for the redevelopment of Rishikesh's Beatles Ashram.
HCP is an Ahmedabad-based firm led by architect Bimal Patel.
The appointment was made without a tender, documents obtained by The Indian Express under the Right to Information (RTI) Act revealed.

Ticket stubs for 1960s gigs by The Beatles that cost pennies at the time are among a collection expected to fetch up to £500 at auction.
The 17-stub archive includes two for The Beatles and Roy Orbison at Birmingham Town Hall in June 1963, costing fans eight shillings and sixpence.
The Liverpool band was originally second on the bill, but were bumped up to co-headline as Beatlemania grew and ended up closing the set.

One set of autographs, signed on a sheet of fan club-headed paper, was received by 13-year-old Kevin circa 1963. In his letter, Kevin cheekily explained that he was running out of pennies for return postage. So, as well as including the signatures of all four band members, the reply written by Ringo Starr says, ‘To Kevin, Ta for your letter which Freda passed onto us. Sorry to hear of your financial predicament! Here, as asked for, are our GENUINE autos. Hope they are O.K., Regards from The Beatles.’
