Japan-Exclusive CD Single of Beatles' 'Free As A Bird / Real Love' Available

A CD single of the Beatles' "Free As A Bird / Real Love" is now available in Japan only. The CD, presented in the audiophile SHM format (playable on regular CD players), features the 2025 mixes by Jeff Lynne of "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love," taken from the newly release Anthology 4 compilation. The release includes English liner notes, lyrics with a Japanese translation and a card featuring the 7-inch "Free as a Bird" single's original picture sleeve art by John Lennon. It's available for order via CD Japan .

Ringo's New Country LP for 2026 - Updates

Ringo Starr has completed initial recording of his follow-up to his well-regarded Look Up LP. As with that album, the new one will be steeped in country western influence, and will include an unnamed Carl Perkins cover, Noise11 reports . T-Bone Burnett is producing. More info: Starr has also returned to songwriting with longtime collaborator Bruce Sugar, co-writing two new tracks for the project. Sugar has been a key behind-the-scenes figure in Starr’s studio output for more than a decade, helping translate ideas into finished recordings while preserving Starr’s unmistakable voice and rhythmic instincts. One of the album’s most notable inclusions will be a cover of a lesser-known Carl Perkins song, described as more reflective and emotionally weighted than Perkins’ best-known hits. Full Details: Beatles 'Anthology' 2025 - Box Sets, Streaming Series, Book - New 'Free as a Bird' Video

Well, as hinted earlier this week, the Beatles are springing a revamped, expanded "Anthology" collection on us, along with a reprint of the "Anthology" book and a return of the "Anthology" video series via streaming. The audio sets are out Nov. 21 . Ordering info on the Beatles official site, which also offers exclusive editions for both box sets that include four 12-inch band photo art cards in a numbered envelope. The video series , now expanded with an extra episode, streams from Nov. 29 on Disney+ . And the book , which is in paperback only and appears to have a new cover wrap but the same contents, is out Oct. 14 .
