Full Details: Beatles 'Anthology' 2025 - Box Sets, Streaming Series, Book - New 'Free as a Bird' Video

Well, as hinted earlier this week, the Beatles are springing a revamped, expanded "Anthology" collection on us, along with a reprint of the "Anthology" book and a return of the "Anthology" video series via streaming. The audio sets are out Nov. 21 . Ordering info on the Beatles official site, which also offers exclusive editions for both box sets that include four 12-inch band photo art cards in a numbered envelope. The video series , now expanded with an extra episode, streams from Nov. 29 on Disney+ . And the book , which is in paperback only and appears to have a new cover wrap but the same contents, is out Oct. 14 . First Listen: Beatles 'Anthology 4

I've only listened through it once, and I've done no a/b-ing or deep analysis, but here's my take on the "new" tunes included on the Beatles Anthology 4 album, out today. As you likely know, there are 13 previously unreleased tracks on the collection, along with new mixes of "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love." The rest of the release includes tunes that have popped up on the Fabs' boxsets, on the "The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963" online release, or on the "Free as a Bird" EP. "Now and Then," from 2023, rounds things out. So, here's what's new: "Tell Me Why (Takes 12 and 13)" — This is a really fun outtake that captures the group practicing their harmonies and then launching into the tune with a guitar intro, which was later lopped off. The band is having fun clowning around. Their voices sound great and the overall fidelity, like every tune on the album, is vivid and lively. It's like y...

John Kosh Talks Designing the Beatles 'Abbey Road' Cover, Working at Apple and More

Music Connection has a new interview with Apple Records designer John Kosh. Some highlights: Sir Joseph Lockwood, the chairman of Apple Records’ parent company EMI called me up in the middle of the night at 3:00 am and said “the name of the group isn’t on the front cover. We’re never going to sell any records!” He said “I was ruining the Beatles’ careers!” He was only thinking of where records would be out in the racks and bins. I was a 23-year-old and my knees and body were trembling. I knew it didn’t need an explanation. I thought, “Here are the four Beatles walking across the street. If you do not know who they are, you have definitely been in a cave somewhere.” There was a lot of publicity about the new album by the Beatles coming out. They were the Fab Four.
