New Book Looks at Beatles' English West Country Appearances

Via the Weston Mercury:

"There's A Place: Beatles in the West Country 1962-64" is written by retired music fan and author Simon Hurford and focuses on the band’s concerts and experiences across the region.

The book covers the group’s 1962 shows at Stroud Subscription Rooms, their appearances in Bath and Salisbury, performances at Bristol Colston Hall in 1963 and 1964, and their time filming on Salisbury Plain.

Mr Hurford said: "My book is an in-depth look at their week, the concerts they played and fan reaction to the Beatles, and Gerry and the pacemakers, and the mayhem they encountered."

The book includes rare photographs, newspaper clippings, posters, and first-hand accounts from fans who attended the shows.

Copies are available for £22 plus £5 postage by emailing sphurford@yahoo.co.uk.
