Drive My Car: Paul McCartney's 1960s Driver's License Sells for £15,600

Via the BBC : Paul McCartney's 1960s driving licence, complete with convictions and fines, has been sold for £15,600 at an auction in Surrey. The old-style UK driving licence lists The Beatles bass guitarist and singer's name, previous address in London and his signature in blue-felt pen. Ewbank's Auctions said the back of the licence shows two convictions and fines – one in Bath on 11 May 1969 and another in Coventry on 7 February 1968. The item, which had been expected to fetch between £800 and £1,200, was described as a "rare gift" by auctioneer Andrew Ewbank.

Well, as hinted earlier this week, the Beatles are springing a revamped, expanded "Anthology" collection on us, along with a reprint of the "Anthology" book and a return of the "Anthology" video series via streaming. The audio sets are out Nov. 21 . Ordering info on the Beatles official site, which also offers exclusive editions for both box sets that include four 12-inch band photo art cards in a numbered envelope. The video series , now expanded with an extra episode, streams from Nov. 29 on Disney+ . And the book , which is in paperback only and appears to have a new cover wrap but the same contents, is out Oct. 14 . George Harrison's Dark Horse Records Adds Billy Preston and Radha Krsna Temple Albums to Catalog

Dark Horse Records, launched by George Harrison in 1974 and now distributed via BMG, has added three LPs, formerly issued by the Beatles' Apple label, to its stable. Billy Preston's albums, That’s The Way God Planned It (1969) and Encouraging Words (1970) are now available for streaming here . Likewise, the Radha Krsna Temple LP, issued on Apple in 1971, can be streamed here . That's the Way God Planned It , produced by George, came on the heels of Preston's work with the Beatles on the "Let it Be" sessions. George is featured playing guitars, Moog synthesizer and sitar on the album, which also features appearances by Keith Richards, Doris Troy, Ginger Baker and Madeline Bell. Preston's follow-up, Encouraging Words , was co-produced by George and Preston, and includes Preston's versions of "All Things Must Pass" and "My Sweet Lord," which were issued two months ahead of Harrison's versions on All Things Must Pass. Spotted this listing at Import CDs. Details: Miniskirts And Rainbows includes 19 previously unreleased recordings by The Iveys recorded between 1966 and 1969, of which, only one has ever been heard by serious collectors before. The album contains 6 titles that are alternate versions of tracks by The Iveys or Badfinger that have been previously released, and 3 songs that mention miniskirts in the lyrics. The two members of the group that are not well known for their songwriting (drummer Mike Gibbins and bassist Ron Griffiths) each have solo demos included (three and two). Of special note are The Iveys' version of "Blodwyn" predating the Badfinger version by a year, their full group recording of "I Miss You" (predating Badfinger's release by more than 5 years), and "All The Fun Of The Fair", a song written by personal manager Bill Collins, intended for Apple artist, Mary Hopkin.
