Beatles News Roundup: Lennon Amp Turns Up on Facebook, Hannah Waddingham Sings a Bit of a New Paul McCartney Tune
A gobsmacked dad discovered that a guitar amp he snagged on Facebook for less than £3k was previously owned by John Lennon - and could have been used on the White Album, he reckons.
James Taylor, 45, spotted the Fender Blackface Deluxe amp from either 1964 or 1966 on the social media platform and decided it would be a perfect addition to his collection. He was informed that it might have been passed on to the seller by a session musician who received it from John Lennon - but he admitted he didn't really buy into the story at first. However, after delving into some research on the gear, he found out that the star did indeed own one, and a musician Lennon collaborated with on the Imagine album – Rod Lynton – happened to be pals with the seller.
So, the father-of-two got in touch with Rod and secured what he believes is a letter of authenticity confirming that the amp was indeed a gift from The Beatles legend.
