Aldridge, once dubbed the "Beardlsey in blue jeans," came into the Beatles' orbit during the Apple years and provided illustrations for the popular "The Beatles Illustrated Lyrics" first published in 1969. He also illustrated concert posters for the Rolling Stones and the LP covers of Cream's final LP, The Who Sell Out and Elton John's Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. The Guardian published an obituary last week.
