Here's info about two upcoming in-person at Abbey Road in London:
June 19: George Martin: The Scores with Kevin Ryan and Brian Kehew
Join Curvebender Publishing’s Kevin Ryan and Brian Kehew in Abbey Road’s iconic Studio Two for a multimedia exploration of "George Martin: The Scores," their landmark new three-volume publication built around Sir George Martin’s previously unknown personal manuscript archive.
Throughout his decades as a producer, arranger, and composer, George Martin quietly preserved many of his original handwritten orchestral scores, the working pages behind some of the most beloved recordings of the twentieth century. This remarkable cache of documents, unseen by the public until now, offers an unprecedented window into Martin’s creative process and his collaborations with The Beatles and other artists.
Ten years in the making, "The Scores" is the result of an exhaustive forensic investigation into those pages. Ryan and Kehew, working with a team of world-class composers and arrangers, scoured each manuscript for hidden details, reverse-engineering Martin’s thought processes to reveal how these iconic arrangements actually came to be.
In this presentation, Ryan and Kehew will discuss the project’s origins and their experience of working with George at his home. They present some of the most surprising findings from their decade-long research journey and walk the audience through many key pieces, all while sharing rare, never-before-seen photographs of Martin at work.
A highlight will be exclusive documentary footage allowing the audience to watch and listen as several of Martin’s most iconic string and orchestral arrangements as they are meticulously re-recorded in Abbey Road’s Studio Two, specifically for this project. Hearing George’s arrangements for the likes of "Yesterday," "Eleanor Rigby," "I Am The Walrus," while sitting in the very room where they were first committed to tape.
