So long to journalist Ivor Davis, a delightful chap whose beat as West Coast correspondent to London's Daily Express included everything from the The Beatles and movie stars to the Manson murders.
He died last Sunday in his adopted home of Ventura, Calif., at age 87.
Ivor traveled with the Fabs during their first American tour and served as the ghostwriter of George Harrison's 1964 columns in the Express. He also witnessed the band sneaking off with Bob Dylan to get high for the first or second time, but didn't write about it at the time.
I had the pleasure to interview and chat with him numerous times over the years and he was always friendly and down to earth, and full of great stories.
His book, "The Beatles and Me On Tour," is well worth a read.
