Japan-Exclusive CD Single of Beatles' 'Free As A Bird / Real Love' Available

A CD single of the Beatles' "Free As A Bird / Real Love" is now available in Japan only. The CD, presented in the audiophile SHM format (playable on regular CD players), features the 2025 mixes by Jeff Lynne of "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love," taken from the newly release Anthology 4 compilation. The release includes English liner notes, lyrics with a Japanese translation and a card featuring the 7-inch "Free as a Bird" single's original picture sleeve art by John Lennon. It's available for order via CD Japan .

Shipping Dec. 8: Limited edition translucent milk white double A-side 7” featuring the new mixes of The Beatles’ Anthology-associated hit singles: the GRAMMY-winning 'Free As A Bird' and 'Real Love’ as a double A-side, given new life by their original producer, Jeff Lynne, using John Lennon's vocals. Created from rudimentary home demos John recorded in the 1970s, later completed with vocal and instrumental parts recorded by Paul, George and Ringo. Some shaky video from Ringo's star-studded country show at the Ryman this week. According to a recap from Billboard : Each show featured Starr welcoming a star-studded lineup of his fellow music luminaries, including Sheryl Crow, Jack White, Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, The War and Treaty, Jamey Johnson, Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, Mickey Guyton, Sarah Jarosz and Larkin Poe. Burnett hosted the show, welcoming artists throughout the evening, as some performances featured artists in collaboration with Starr, while other performances featured the evening’s guest offering solo performances. ...Backing the artists was an ace band of revered musicians that included Mike Rojas, Daniel Tashian, David Mansfield, Dennis Crouch, Paul Franklin and Jim Keltner. Well, as hinted earlier this week, the Beatles are springing a revamped, expanded "Anthology" collection on us, along with a reprint of the "Anthology" book and a return of the "Anthology" video series via streaming. The audio sets are out Nov. 21 . Ordering info on the Beatles official site, which also offers exclusive editions for both box sets that include four 12-inch band photo art cards in a numbered envelope. The video series , now expanded with an extra episode, streams from Nov. 29 on Disney+ . And the book , which is in paperback only and appears to have a new cover wrap but the same contents, is out Oct. 14 .
