A Tale of Two Covers: Paul McCartney's Upcoming Wings Book Will Sport a Different Look in the UK

The NME has unveiled the UK cover (above) of Paul McCartney's upcoming book, " Wings: The Story Of A Band On The Run ," along with an excerpt from the book's forward. As you can see, the British cover differs from the one in the U.S., below. You can pre-order a copy of the American copy now from Bookshop.org . The book is out Nov. 4 on both sides of the Atlantic. Here's the quote from Paul's foreword: "Suddenly Wings has found its moment. We have a generational shift at work, and it’s like being transported back on a magic carpet. Writers Named for Upcoming Beatles Biodoc Films

According to Deadline , Tony Award winner Jez Butterworth, Oscar winner Peter Straughan and BAFTA and Tony winner Jack Thorne are on board to write the screenplays for director Sam Mendes' quartet of Beatles films. Each film will focus on a particular Beatle. It's not known if the screenwriters will each write their own script or collaborate on all four films. According to Deadline: The four films will star Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison. Sony Pictures will finance and distribute worldwide with full theatrical windows in April 2028. The Beatles— A Four-Film Cinematic Event is a Neal Street production in association with Apple Corps for Sony Pictures. Mendes is producing alongside his Neal Street partner Pippa Harris and Neal Street’s Julie Pastor. Alexandra Derbyshire (Wonka) is also producing. Acoustic Engineer Recalls Running Sound for the Beatles in Seattle in 1964

The Beatles in Seattle Center Coliseum, 1964 Tape Op has a fun interview with Glenn White, who recounts his career in sound, including amplifying the Beatles during their Aug. 21, 1964, performance in the Seattle Center Coliseum. A snippet: How long did you work at the Seattle Center? What was your most significant experience there? I was there for five years [1963-1968]. The most memorable experience was when I was doing the sound for The Beatles in 1964 in the Seattle Center Coliseum. The Beatles sent two guys from New York ahead of them. They asked me about the sound system, and they said, "Can you augment the system to make it just as loud as possible. Getting the music over the noise of the audience is going to be really difficult." And I said, "Well yeah, we have quite a bit of equipment around here, so we can add to the system."
