Beatles Drummer Pete Best Announces Retirement from Live Performance

Via the Liverpool Echo:

Former Beatle Pete Best will retire from performing live shows and making personal appearances, his brother has said. Pete, 83, joined The Beatles in 1960 and was the band's original drummer before manager Brian Epstein chose to replace him with Ringo Starr in August 1962.

...In a post on social media on Saturday (April 5), Roag Best said:" Well what an absolutely wonderful ride we’ve had. However, everything comes to pass.

"My brother Pete Best has announced today he is retiring from personal appearances and performing with the group. His daughter has informed me it’s due to personal circumstances.

"The Up Close Concert tickets for Liverpool on August 23 will be refunded on Tuesday. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to turnout for our shows over the years. We had a blast and we hope you did too."
