Ringo Starr Set to Play Grand Ole Opry in February

Ringo really must be country, because he's set to play the temple of country music: The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

The concert comes on the heels of the release last week of his new LP, Look Up, produced by T Bone Burnett and featuring newer country stars such as Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle, and a pair of shows this week in Nashville's famed Ryman Auditorium.

The Ryman shows are being recorded for a CBS TV special set to air later in the year that will in part raise money for L.A. fire recovery.

According to Rolling Stone, Ringo was invited to play the Opry by Emmylou Harris, a guest on his Ryman performances. Ringo's appearance on Feb. 21 coincides with celebrations of the Opry's 100th anniversary.
