Beatles Celebrate 60th Anniversary of First U.S. Tour - Watch the Video - What Else is Planned?

The Beatles' social channels today shared a video celebrating the 60th anniversary of the band's first U.S. tour, which launched on Aug. 19, 1964.

The band's official site says:

"Over the next few weeks we're celebrating the tour's sixtieth anniversary. With special photographs, memorabilia, and stories from the band's frenzied travels, we'll be following them as havoc ensues in every city they land, in as they mesmerize the North American continent."

There's also a number of new tour-themed t-shirts and other items up for sale via the site's official Beatles Store.

All these feeds speculation that maybe we'll see more items to buy, too.

Ringo hinted several months back that there's a project planned involving the Albert and David Maysles' documentary about the band's first U.S. visit, so it seems likely we'll be learning more about that soon.

Of course, this also would be a great opportunity for Apple to give us something new in terms of an audio release. Maybe a live show or concert compilation from 1964 making use of Peter Jackson's MAL system, the announcement of deluxe edition focused on the band's earliest albums? Or something else entirely.

Stay tuned.
