The American Who Purchased George Harrison's Childhood Home

Fun interview via New Hampshire's Seacoast Online:

Some 54 years after its release on the iconic Abbey Road album, those lyrics still ring true for a legion of Beatles fans and perhaps especially for Hampton’s Ken Lambert.

On a bit of a whim, Lambert purchased the childhood home of Beatles legend George Harrison in an auction in November 2021. He has since seen Beatles fans from across the world come together in the modest abode at 25 Upton Green in Speke, a suburb of Liverpool, to celebrate Harrison and the Beatles.

A longtime Beatles fan, Lambert said it’s the people he has met along the way during this year-and-a-half magical mystery tour of sorts, along with the effusive reviews, that have made it worthwhile.

“People have said that it was a life-changing event, and many have said that it was a surreal experience and a very moving and emotional time to be there,” said Lambert. “That’s the vibe I was trying to go for and create.”

Lambert purchased the three-bedroom townhouse for $223,000. He rents it for $214 a night on Airbnb with a two-night minimum and says it’s virtually booked for the entire summer.

...Inside, a few simple touches have brought to life the living room, or “front room” as it is called across the pond, where Harrison, Paul McCartney and John Lennon had some of their earliest jam sessions. Lambert has equipped the room with just a retro stand-up turntable complete with several Beatles records and an acoustic guitar. The litany of videos on the rental’s Facebook page with on-key — and off-key — fans singing their favorites speak volumes.

“I play a little guitar and I wanted to have that there for myself when I go there, but it’s also like a working prop as well,” said Lambert. “If you play the guitar, you’re in heaven, but even if you don’t, you can just strum that guitar and go home and say I played the guitar where the Beatles played.”
