Louise Harrison, George's sister, dies

Louise Harrison, George's older sister, died yesterday at age 91. She was a regular figure at Beatles conventions and managed a Beatles tribute band late in her life, and published the book, "My Kid Brother's Band... a.k.a. the Beatles," in 2014.

Having grown up in Liverpool, she moved to Illinois in the late 1950s with her husband. Her championing of the Beatles here began before their famed appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show." George sent her the Beatles U.K. record releases, and Louise sought to get them played on her local radio station. She hosted George when he visited the U.S. with his older brother, Harry, in 1963 and watched as George sat in with a local band in her town, a kid with funny long hair who played in an British band nobody had ever heard of before.

You can read my review of Louise's book here.
